What is the central idea of your concentration?
Architecture, it's an art you interact with, an art you create by solving problems with a creative and innovative approach. Finding solutions to problems and creating things in my life that are meaningful and intriguing are two very important ideas to me. Architecture is an art that allows me to apply these ideas into my work. When I am in a new space or building I look around and take in the surroundings, I ask myself how each space makes me feel. Is there too much complexity? Or maybe the structure is too simple. I also observe the dimensions of each space, does it feel too cramped? Or is the space overwhelmingly large. I seek new spaces that invite the viewer with a balance of clean simplicity and intricate complexity and a comfortable yet exciting sized space. A space that invites you to explore, a place you look at and say “I want to hang out in there”. As an artist who draws or paints your goal is to marvel the viewers eyes, as an architect my goal is to change how a person feels when they enter a space that I design. I want the simplicity and size of the structures to calm the observer as the complexity of the design entriges them and invites them to explore. Each space should elevate the observers mood and create a scene of curiosity.
